Thursday is a big day for the Occupy movements around the United States and around the world. But it's not just the corruption of mortgages and healthcare that has people taking to the peaceful sit-ins in droves.
October 5th and 6th will also be Occupy Colleges Day, an event for college students around the country to publicly rebuke the college creditor system. With the exorbitant cost of a four-year degree, college students will protest the financially-crippling situation find themselves in due to 4 or more years of student loans coupled with the high interest rates. Add to that the scarcity of jobs once they are out of college, one begins to wonder what is the point of getting a college degree... except that it seems you have to be a college graduate to flip burgers nowadays.
Really? Go $150,000 in debt to make minimum wage of $7.85 per hour? If you're lucky enough to find a job???
